What cultural events are happening in Madrid this October?

Teatro Real de Madrid
Madrid will offer a variety of events this October, ranging from art exhibitions to antique book festivals. In the Recoletos neighborhood, the Autumn Fair of Old and Antique Books stands out, open until October 13 on the Paseo de Recoletos. This fair, featuring more than half a million unique volumes, provides book lovers the chance to find rare books, pocket editions, and collections from the Spanish Golden Age. It is an unmissable event for those who enjoy literary history and editorial curiosities.

Additionally, the Fundación MAPFRE in Recoletos hosts two important exhibitions. One of them is "Paul Durand-Ruel and the Last Glimpses of Impressionism," celebrating the art dealer who helped give visibility to post-Impressionist artists such as Albert André and Gustave Loiseau. The exhibition offers a unique perspective on art history through the works of these great painters, many of which have never been shown before. Alongside it, the exhibition "31 Women" highlights female artists who were part of Peggy Guggenheim's collection, providing a fresh and feminist take on modern art.

Beyond Recoletos, Madrid's cultural offer remains spectacular. The Prado Museum will open on October 15 the exhibition "Rubens’ Workshop," a retrospective exploring the creative process of the famous Flemish painter. Meanwhile, at the Reina Sofía Museum, the exhibition of Soledad Sevilla, one of the most important figures in geometric abstraction in Spain, is already open. The exhibition includes over 100 works that span her entire artistic career, highlighting her unique style and exploration of geometric forms.

With such a rich and diverse cultural program, Madrid becomes an excellent opportunity to explore the city and enjoy its art, history and literary heritage. We invite you to consult Madrid's calendar of events here.
